Accessibility Statement
Last updated: September 2026
This statement covers the Better Email platform at app.better.email, the website at better.email, and the campaign HTML the platform produces for our customers' recipients.
Our target for both is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We measure ourselves against that standard and against the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) as implemented in Denmark.
Conformance status
The platform and the website are partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that most content meets the standard and that the exceptions are listed under known limitations below. We review this statement and the limitations at least once a year and after major releases.
The platform
Accessibility in the platform covers two things: the application our customers' teams use, and the campaign HTML the platform produces for their recipients.
- •Keyboard operation of the editor, review and approval flows, with visible focus states.
- •Colour contrast that meets WCAG 2.2 AA in the application interface.
- •Labelled form controls, error messages and status updates announced to assistive technology.
- •Support for browser zoom and text resizing up to 200% without loss of function.
- •Pre-flight accessibility checks on every campaign: alt text on images, colour contrast, heading structure, table semantics and language attributes.
- •Campaign HTML built from design systems that follow email accessibility practice: semantic structure, role="presentation" on layout tables, lang attributes, and readable font sizes.
Campaign HTML is built to meet WCAG 2.2 AA and the European Accessibility Act. Whether a sent campaign meets the standard also depends on the content the customer adds, which is why the pre-flight checks flag missing alt text, low contrast and structural issues before export.
The website
- •Semantic HTML with one h1 per page and a logical heading order.
- •Text alternatives for informative images, and empty alt attributes for decorative ones.
- •Keyboard-accessible navigation, menus and forms, with skip-to-content behaviour through native landmarks.
- •Colour contrast that meets WCAG 2.2 AA for text and interactive elements.
- •Videos with captions or subtitles where speech carries the meaning.
Known limitations
- •Some third-party embedded content, such as videos hosted by other providers and forms served by third parties, may not meet every criterion.
- •Not all PDF downloads (press material, older presentations, business documents) are tagged for screen readers. Contact us for an accessible version.
- •Email client previews reproduce how each email client renders a campaign and cannot be made accessible beyond what the rendering client provides.
How we test
We combine automated checks in our build and review process with manual testing using keyboard navigation, browser zoom, and screen readers (VoiceOver and NVDA). Customer feedback and issues reported through the address below go into the product backlog and are prioritised by impact.
Report an accessibility issue
If you find something you cannot use, or need content in another format, email [email protected] with the page or feature, what happened, and the browser and assistive technology you used. We respond within 5 working days.
